Saudi budget airline announces direct flights to Russia’s capital from August 1

Three weekly flynas flights to connect Riyadh with Moscow Vnukovo

DUBAI: flynas, Saudi Arabia’s leading low-cost airline, has announced the launch of three weekly direct flights between Riyadh and Moscow starting August 1, 2025.

Operating every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, the new route will connect King
Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh with Vnukovo International Airport (VKO) in Moscow.

This move marks flynas as the only airline currently offering nonstop services between the two cities. At present, all available routes require at least one stopover, often via Dubai, Istanbul, or Baku. Saudia is also expected to launch Moscow flights in October, though to Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO), not Vnukovo.

Riyadh–Moscow flights

The Riyadh–Moscow route spans 1,883 nautical miles (3,448 km) and forms part of flynas’ broader expansion under the slogan “We Connect the World to the Kingdom.” This strategic move supports Saudi Arabia’s National Civil Aviation Strategy, which aims to link the Kingdom with 250 international destinations, accommodate 330 million passengers, and attract 150 million tourists annually by 2030.

It also complements the objectives of the Pilgrims Experience Program by improving access to the
Two Holy Mosques for international visitors.

Fleet and competition

While flynas has not officially confirmed the aircraft type for the new service, it is expected to use its Airbus A320neo or wet-leased Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets, suitable for the route’s range. The carrier’s fleet currently consists of 80 aircraft, including Airbus A320s, A330s, and 737 MAX 8s.

flynas joins other Gulf airlines still flying to Russia, including Emirates, Qatar Airways, flydubai, Etihad Airways, Air Arabia, Gulf Air, and Oman Air. These carriers continue to serve Russian cities amid restricted access to European destinations.

Passengers can book flights via the official website, the flynas app, call centre (920001234), or through authorised travel agents.
